The tick season starts at temperatures of 10 degrees Celsius, i.e. in the months of February to October. But ticks remain active even in mild winter months.

Ticks are not only found in fields, meadows and forests, but also in parks, on the shores of bathing lakes, in the grass and bushes along the roadside.

WHY IS IT IMPORTANT TO PROTECT DOGS FROM TICKS?

Ticks can be infected with pathogens that are found in the pathogen's saliva and enter the bloodstream of the host (our four-legged friend) via the bite site. The most common diseases that can be transmitted by ticks are: Lyme disease, babesiosis, anaplasmosis, ehrlichiosis and TBE (tick-borne encephalitis).

It is important to check your four-legged friend for ticks after every walk so that they can be removed as quickly as possible.

CORRECT REMOVING AND DISPOSING OF THE TICK

There are special tick tweezers for removing ticks. Ticks can also be removed with your fingers. It is important that the tick is removed completely! If you are unsure and do not want to remove the tick yourself, consult a veterinarian.

Ticks should be disposed of properly after removal, such as wrapping the tick in a paper towel and crushing it with a glass. Ticks survive in water and should not be disposed of in the toilet, sink, or kitchen sink.

HOW DO I PROTECT MY DOG FROM TICK INFESTATION?

There are different ways to protect your four-legged friend from ticks.

Chemical anti-tick repellents:

  • Spot-on preparations
  • Anti-tick collars
  • Anti-tick sprays
  • Tablets

Natural anti-tick repellents:

  • Special anti-tick chains
  • Coconut oil
  • Special blends of essential oils
  • Black cumin oil

While chemical anti-tick repellents can cause side effects, using natural products is the healthier alternative.

Personally, I have had very good experiences with the anti-tick protection from REICO VITALSYSTEME .

My dog is 13 years old and has been largely tick-free for 10 years thanks to REICO.

My little Pomeranian dog Sunny is also optimally protected with the tick protection from REICO.

The oil is applied to the tip of both ears and dripped into the neck area for 3 weeks. After 3 weeks, the dog is basically stabilized and the oil is then applied 1-2 times a week.

I also add some black cumin oil to their food once a week.
