HARNESS OR COLLAR?

Harness or collar? Here you can find useful information on this topic.

Which is better for your dog – a harness or a collar?

Every dog owner wishes their four-legged friend would walk calmly on a leash.
But no matter if you choose a harness or a collar – neither is a substitute for proper leash training!

Here are a few examples of when a dog harness makes sense:

  • For puppies and small breeds, a soft harness is highly recommended. It distributes pressure evenly across the chest area and offers excellent wearing comfort.

  • For anxious or nervous dogs, a combination of collar and harness is advisable – or even a special safety harness.

  • When using a long line (tracking leash), it should always be attached to a harness. If clipped to a collar, a sudden pull could cause injury to the dog’s neck.

  • During car rides, a harness should also be used with the seatbelt attachment. A collar could lead to serious injuries in case of sudden braking.

  • Harnesses are also used in certain dog sports – and come in a wide range of types and styles.

The most common styles are H-harnesses or Y-harnesses, both designed for everyday walks. Adjustable at the belly and chest, they can be perfectly fitted to any dog’s size.

For daily walks, it’s ultimately up to the owner whether to choose a collar or a harness.

Our harnesses are classic H-harnesses – lightweight and ideal for puppies and small dogs thanks to specially selected plastic buckles that ensure maximum comfort. You’ll find our harnesses for small dogs [here].

Our dog collars from the "Design Collars" collection are available from size XS – stylish, durable, and easy to clean. Fabrics with eye-catching prints combined with sturdy webbing make our collars and harnesses fashionable accessories for your beloved dog.
